I am a DONA-certified birth doula and a CAPPA-trained postpartum doula. But I am also the mother of nine children and a grandmother to five grandchildren. Having given birth nine times, seven unique hospital births and two wonderful water births at home, I wish I had had a doula by my side for all of it. Having a knowledgeable and supportive person by you and your partner’s side as you go through this life-changing, empowering, and miraculous experience is a good thing. As your doula, I can help you to see that birth is a natural process that you can achieve. With my personal and professional experience I am able to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping you through the process.
After raising and homeschooling my rambunctious kids for 34 ½ years, I decided to pursue my passion-birth and postpartum work. It has been a fulfilling job accompanying families on their journey to a safe and desirable birth experience and then ensuring that they have the best possible start as a family unit. I love to provide the tools to my clients so they can have the birth experience they want. Every time I am there to see a new blessing come into this world, I feel honored. And every time I work with a new family, helping them identify their baby’s needs and giving them tools to meet those needs, I am thankful. I love to impart the wisdom I have earned with these families, hence my business name Wise Woman Birth Services.
I am trained in Spinning Babies techniques, Gena Kirby’s Rebozo for Doulas, Advanced Comfort Measures, and Belly Binding. I attended college and nursing school at the University of Colorado. When I am not busy taking of mothers and their families I love to work out-weight lifting, Zumba, Barre, and swimming. I also love to spend time with my expanding family.
